I have driven 2 V8 mustangs in my life . I have been on the local Phoenix tracks dozens of times with only a 3.5 liter V6. I would love to hit the track with a fresh set of tires and brakes in that juicy V8 mustang with a track tuned suspension. It must be so much fun to have that extra torque on corner exit. I love driving on the track (and I must say I am pretty good at it thanks to SCCA, NASA, autocross, and kart racing). Its the corner exit that I live for. That perfect line that results in that beautiful corner exit with just the right amount of throttle, grip, steering smoothness, and torque on tap that results in that amazing corner exit that allows you to pull on the 3 series that just came up from behind the braking zone.

FLASHBACK

WOW ...........I think I want my G35 back. I would gladly settle for the BOSS

You got that right Mike!!! 25mpg, and looking at about $30K...

So my "new" math:
BMW X5= $77k

Ford F-150 Raptor $43K + Mustang GT $34K optioned= $77K

GS350 isn't that bad but worse than a BMW 5er IMHO on the track.

I agree 100%. They are both a bit heavy for the tires or brakes to hold up for more than 3-4 hot laps but the bimmer would probably just edge the GS350 out. I still have not driven a 3GS with the adaptive suspension. I think its the steering feel that degrades the driving feel for me. Also a much thicker wheel would be nice for better feel

Doesn't look like Ford is updating the front brakes.. With this much HP the brakes should be 4-6 piston Brembos or something.. Its about time the Pony got a new set of brakes..

I agree as well, but the thing looks well set up with a roll cage and stripped interior. The most annoying thing on a track other than a crappy suspension set up is poor brake capacity and fade resistance

Default Brakes

Just saw a article again about the New Mustang GT.. Looks like a BBK will be an option.. Please read..

Speaking of its segment, the current 2010 Mustang GT is already top of its class, independent rear suspension detractors notwithstanding. Aside from better brakes, the only legit knock on the 'Stang was the lack of power when compared to the Hemi'fied Challenger or burly Camaro SS. That knock, so to speak, is now out the door. Also, if you want Brembo brakes on your 2011 Mustang GT, Ford will sell them to you. If you haven't guessed, we're very much looking forward to this particular launch/car. And here's one more thing to chew on until we see the 5.0 in Detroit -- Ford assured us that with the new Mustang making 412 horsepower, it very well can't leave the GT500 as is. Hmmm ...

Default Ford Mustang Boss 302 is back for 2012!

Ford Mustang Boss 302 is back for 2012!

The car that Mustang fans have been hoping Ford would build for a very, very long time is finally here: the 2012 Boss 302. Dave Pericak, the Mustang chief engineer says it all.

"Boss is a hallowed word around here, and we couldn't put that name on a new Mustang until we were sure everything was in place to make this car a worthy successor. We were either going to do it right or not do it at all - no one on the team was going to let Boss become a sticker and wheel package."

Amen, Dave. A true Boss 302 is raw, hardcore and race-inspired, and Ford delivered the goods. The latest special edition Mustang comes with plenty of items that will excite road racing fans - an upgraded clutch, short-throw shifter, adjustable suspension, improved brakes and a more potent version of the 5.0-liter V8 that produces 440 horsepower and 380 lb-ft torque thanks to a new intake and more aggressive camshafts. Ford claims the Boss 302 will be able to break 1.0g and lap a typical road course two seconds faster than the standard Mustang GT. Ford engineers even reportedly benchmarked the BMW M3 when developing the Boss 302, aiming to beat the famous Bavarian coupe around Laguna Seca, which they claim to have achieved.

The exterior is inspired by the original 1969 model with either a black or white roof panel, C-stripe, closed fog lamp openings and a more aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler. Available colors are more eye-catching than the standard choices and include Competition Orange, Performance White, Kona Blue Metallic, Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat Metallic and Race Red.

2010 Boss 302 owners will enjoy a more aural experience from the cockpit thanks to eleven pounds of sound-deadening material removed from the car. The interior also gets a dark metallic finish for the instrument panel, gauge cluster and door panel trim, Alcantara-covered steering wheel and an optional package with Recaro high performance seats.

Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna SecaFinally, Ford is also planning to release a limited number of Boss 302 Laguna Seca models (right) that offer more body stiffness, a stronger chassis and an aero package lifted straight from the Ford Racing Boss 302R.

We're attending the 2010 Boss 302's live unveiling at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and will have the first live pictures of the car straight from the famous corkscrew for you soon.

Default Mustang Boss 302... v8 5.0L with 430HP & 380 lb.-ft. of torque

Toyota needs to step it up with engine development. The regular Mustang GT already has identical HP figures as our car and now this new Boss version surpasses that. I know "it's just a mustang", but it's kinda disappointing to see that Ford is making progress with their N/A powered 5L engine and Toyota hasn't done anything to the engine since introducing the ISF.

With 412 horsepower from 5.0 liters, the 2011 GT engine was already an incredible performer. But to achieve the high-rpm horsepower that would make the engine competitive on the track, a new intake was essential. The resulting runners-in-the-box plenum/velocity stack combination the engine team developed was impressive enough that it got the green light after one short drive.

Helping the intake build power, revised camshafts using a more aggressive grind are actuated with the same twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) mechanism used on the Mustang GT. More aggressive control calibration yields 440 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, while still offering a smooth idle and low-end torque for comfortable around-town driving.
