Lexus did make some comparisons/comments with the ES 350 vs the first gen LS but I can't remember exactly what they were.

Space and comfort-wise, the past two generations of the ES have been comparable to the original LS. Still a V6 driving the front wheels, though...LS has always been RWD and V8.

Probably the price-comparison. The first LS400s, in 1990, ran 35-40K, which is just about what the typical new ES350 runs today.

Very good car, the ES350. Now if only they made brakes that do not feel squishy or mushy.

The ES350 is one of the best cars in the Lexus lineup. I have loved the styling on the current and last generation.

My sister just picked up used one for a great price and it's fantastic car for those who don't need the fastest or best handling car. It's got a great interior with a nice, comfortable ride. Just exactly what many people want and it's why this car continues to sell so well.

I hope Lexus doesn't change the formula for the ES.

I believe that it was motorweek, If I am not mistaken, that claimed that the current gen ES was in fact quieter than the original LS 400.
