I probably would purchase an electric vehicle “Leaf”. Park that bad boy right beside the Benz in the garage. Plug the car in while closing the garage at the same time.
Creating an Electric car is a great idea. I hate going to the gas pump. Remember at one point we didn't have phone charger stations in the airport but now we do.
We honestly should have made electric vehicles a decade ago.

Actually GM did make an EV about 15 years ago.

As to why it never caught on is up for debate. Here's an interesting (although very one sided) documentary on the topic.

The first electric car (carriage really) was invented 18 decades ago (1830's).

They were invented long before the internal combustion engine powered cars/carriages.

Fortunately, they realized early that gas was far superior and went with it.

Electric car or hybrid is really nothing new or new technology. Electric motors are old and simple.

Hybrids and EV is just a bunch of hype to allows manufacturers to sell crap cars at premium prices. Their claimed fuel savings don't even justify the price premium and added maintenance.

I'd rather walk than drive any of these three glorified sardine cans
