Even in the case of property "related" to the sale of illegal drugs, I don't see how anyone can support property seizures. We can identify the problem with property seizures from the situation in this thread, which has many parallels to drug seizures: In many cases, the property belongs (in whole or in part) to people not even charged (must less convicted) of a crime, and the governmental arm involved in seizing the car has a vested interest in doing so because they receive a cut of the seized property when it is auctioned off.
fine me, throw me in jail - but do NOT take my ****.

i'm glad they sold their cars. but the RCMP should not have given the owner or driver any money.
in ontario they crush cars that are street racing.
this is the law for excessive speeding in BC

The faster you drive, the higher the fine. Drivers going more than 40 km/h over the limit receive a $368 fine and those exceeding the limit by more than 60 km/h receive a $483 fine. In addition, the driver will receive three penalty points on his or her driving record.

In New York City, if you are caught driving under influence you will get send to jail for 6 months, fines up you're ***, suspended license for 6-12 months depends on how good you're laywer is and have you're car taken and auctioned off. ONLY IF ITS UNDER YOU"RE NAME!!!!!!! Meaning if you are driving a relatives car or a friends car nothing will happen to it.

Don't sell (or use) any illegal substances, and one probably won't have to worry about any of the above...including vehicle confiscation. Too many people want to try and beat the system...and then b**ch and complain when the system comes crashing down on them.
