Getting pulled over by the police for speeding is among the more unpleasant feelings a driver can experience. But while a ticket can most certainly ruin someone's day, for some reason, most ticketed motorists feel compelled to tell everyone they know the backstory that led to the dastardly fine. The stories are rarely overly interesting, but every once in a while a real Pulitzer-eligible tale unfolds.

A New Zealand driver has just such a yarn to spin after he was pulled over twice in two years by the same cop. In two different countries. 12,000 miles apart. The Daily Mail reports that the unnamed driver was pulled over by officer Andy Flitton in the UK two years ago and again recently in New Zealand. The unlucky driver, who island-hopped to New Zealand after 12 years in the UK, recognized the ticket-giver as the same man who caught him breaking the law on the A5 near London. The officer had recently relocated south after 26 years on the force in England.

Even though the driver was out a good chunk of change for the two infractions, at least the driver can lay claim to the most interesting ticket officer Flitton has ever written.

My secretary's dad once got four tickets for various moving violations.

All by different cops.

All in one day.

No one can complain about getting tickets after hearing that one...

I, personally, have been pulled over 3 times in 1 night for the same infraction, a blown out headlight. The third cop couldn't understand why I couldn't stop laughing.

My father got pulled over by the same cop, on the same road, about 10 years apart, both times he was speeding, both times he got a warning.

Wow! What are the chances of something like that happening?

No big deal, but somewhat expensive.

One of my friend's when I was growing up got 36 points... on his learner's permit, at age 15.

Resisting arrest, fleeing from the police, speeding in exxecc of 100MPH, passing 6 9yes 6) cars in a no passing zone, failure to stop at 10 stop signs, etc. No insurance, no tags, no title, etc.

Little ****er got 20 hrs community service, and got his licence on time.

I once got two speeding tickets in one day.

Granted I drove a couple hundred miles that day, but still, I can't believe it happened. Considering I've been driving for 5,500 days and gotten a total of about 5 tickets (none in the last 6-7 years) makes it all the more crazy that I got two in that one day.

That's because most jurisdictions in the U.S. don't treat juveniles under 18 the same as adults, even if they commit adult-style crimes. Once in a while, exceptions are made for particularly violent juvenile-crimes.

Hey, the driver just might (?) have a good defense. He can claim that the British cop followed him halfway around the world just to keep harassing him.
