Default Interesting turn of event for me...

So, about 4 months back I traded in my GS430 Lexus for a Tundra. I thought I would love driving around such a nice big truck......until I had to put gas in it. These EPA estimations of MPG are a joke! It stated my truck would get between 13-19mpg. MOST if not ALL the time I would get around 11 or 12 under normal driving (which in Texas is pretty much all stop and go). On the highway, traveling 65mph (normally 72) and feathering the pedal along with cruise control, I was able to get my best all time MPG of 17.1! So, needless to say, I was kind of tired of always stopping to fill the tiny 26 gal tank with $60 of gas and only drive 220 miles before having to refuel.

My awesome wife asked me "why don't you just get another GS?". then

So.... My budget was a little limited, a her only requirement was that I not go much higher than my current payment.

SO.... Saturday, I will be receiving delivery of a 07 GS350 Black, loaded with 13k miles!!!!

So.... (again), we are again a 2 Lexus Family (07 GS350, and 10 ES350 UL).

That's my story.... I'll probably not post any pictures since everyone here has seen thousands of Black GS pictures I'm sure.

i don't understand. did you not have a REASON for owning a big truck like the tundra? like hauling or towing? if so, why did you get it?

a gs and tundra are just soooooooo different.

anyway congrats on going back to the gs... must have taken a bath on two car trade ins though!

congrats, even though your prolly eating alot of cash. Funnily enough, I made an even more drastic change 2 months ago, I went from a 30+mpg city Honda Civic to a 12mpg city Dodge Ram. Honestly though, the fuel consumption has not been as drastic of an adjustment as I thought it would. Granted our budget's are probably different, but if anything you make MORE than I do. I understand not being able to justify it if you dont use your truck for truck purposes. They are definitely not ideal commuter cars. Mine does extremely well on the hwy, and suprisingly enough going from $35 a week to $65 a week for gas really wasnt that bad of a hit for me...

Then again, I use my truck bed nearly every day...as such I will from this point forward, always have 1 in my driveway.

What did you do with the truck? Any towing, off roading, work stuff? If its not for any of those why buy a truck and complain about gas? Congrats on the GS though.

We just moved into a new house and were hauling tons of stuff just about every week. It came in real handy for a while when hauling tall items. Otherwise the Armada works for just about all other items. I have a 2010 ford fusion as a company car, so really don't put too many miles on any of our cars. Since the truck has just been sitting there, I figured I might as well get something I enjoy driving, love to own, and gets much better mpgs.

Oh, and I didn't take much of a hit at all. The Lexus dealership actually have me exactly what I paid for the Tundra and I ended up owing the exact same amount. My payment only changed by $4 per month. I also put money down, so I am never upsidedown.

glad to hear you've got another lexus in your garage. my uncle's tundra eats up so much gas too, and he's been wanting to sell it for awhile. but it is fully paid off and he rarely uses it beyond hauling supples for home renovation. he hates the MPG, but loves how much he can toss in the bed and haul it back and forth without worry.

but an 07 with only 13k miles is great! hope you and your wife enjoy this one as much as the last GS!

the lexus dealership gave you what you paid for the tundra including tax, tags, title, delivery, etc.?
maybe that's the way it ended up 'looking' in which case you probably overpaid for the GS but they made it look like instead you got a great trade-in. doesn't matter which way it goes.

as far as your payment only going up $4, i assume you've now extended your payments out further than they would have been had you kept the truck (even if only by a few months), plus you said you put money down, so that was 'lost' in the transaction too, no?
