Hyundai Gandeur/Azera (fifth generation)
#276
yep... I just got a car and i set my price goal and looked at everything around that price. i am sure many others do the same. And I decided for Lexus instead of fancy Toyota, which is probably question that many people will ask themselves when deciding between 500 and Azera and Avalon and TL and ES and........

Not bad at all. I just priced one w/Technology Package and it came out to just under $38.9K including freight.
I think the article was correct in saying the new Azera will appeal to shoppers/buyers of LaCrosse, Taurus, MKZ etc. with definite overlap into TL, ES350 etc. territory.

People need to focus and comment on the Azera being an improvement over the last model and not ****ing worry about Lexus. Its a clear version of the ES and won't touch the ES.
Here is what TTAC thinks
And that is the OLD ES.

Hyundai’s press materials list the 2012 Azera’s competitors as “…traditional large sedan sales leaders such as Maxima, Lacrosse, Avalon and Taurus.” But those cars were on the minds of exactly no one at the Las Vegas launch of the 2012 Azera. Only the Lexus ES350, the market’s leading 4-wheeled sensory deprivation tank, was on the lips of the assembled journos when talking about the Azera’s competition. Hyundai didn’t give us much time with the car, but one thing was clear.
The Azera is still not a match for the Lexus ES350.

I think they did a great job with the exterior and with the motor. I think they fell short in the interior department. How are they going to compete against the new ES ( or even the old ES) with that lack of luxury and wood. The interior is not bad, but its simply not up to the standards of the car that it may be trying to compete against.
As far as the exterior I think the lines are modern and fresh while still retaining the Hyundai new design language. The motor is pretty impressive. 3.3 liter DI with 293 HP. I like Hyundai more and more as the years go by. They are redeeming themselves in the eyes of many consumers and the reviews are generally nothing but positive. I always tell people that Hyundai is the new Honda

So I guess Hyundai has a group buy on Lexus Start/Stop buttons and rear exhaust outlets

I think the rear end on this car is really nice. The center console is not very impressive. Hyundai is really coming out with a lot of cars, possibly too many.
This car might take some Genesis buyers and will certainly get the attention of TL, ES, and G sedan shoppers.
I just don't think it's different enough from the Genesis.
