And, how much does the ML add to the Lexus Price?

some thing not right, v6 vs v8? what category does this porsche really fit in? "4 door coupe" "super saloons" its not even a flagship porsche? wasnt it made to compete against CLS/A7/Rapide and Quattroporte?

Cool comparo. I'd like to see Cadillac and Infiniti join in a few years with the "XTS" and a new Q.

Panamera has performance equal to the rest, so good for them with v6.

Not really sure if I am buying the 740i's performance numbers. 315hp/330lb-ft moves 4,325lbs 0-60 in 5.5 seconds?

I also love their justification for the 1st place finish - large cabin, winged headrests, average user interface and ergonomics, that BMW prestige, panache and style, and it's ability to carve canyons and chase ambulances. Oh, but of course! Those are all the things that customers shopping for a full size sedan desire!!

With the A8, how does the "most confidence-inspiring" chassis "feel like it might break, like a piece of porcelain." Come again?

S400h was a really stupid idea, and I'm sure the S550 would have scored first or second place.

Panamera has no place in this crowd, so I'd have rather seen it omitted.

overall i think that's a pretty nice review, from different directions. of course i am sure there are some points people don't agree, but overall i think it's quite on point. i am surprised they use the s400 instead of s550, i think the s550 might do better. i am surprised the 7 won too. hard to imagine why panamera is put together in the review, to me it's more like a 4-door coupe

bmw's seem to consistently perform better than their specs would indicate.

it may also be that the 7 does less things bad than the others.

it's a slightly odd fit, agreed, but it's fun and it may sell mags.

i think thou doth protest too much.

Yeah, I know, I hear ya, just every writer/reviewer out there (especially Cooley at cnet) lumps it in cuz it's bundled, not stand alone like Burm and B&O and ya gotta have it "even though the standard Lexus stereo is more than adequate"

I don't get it. The LS got some of the best scores:

#1 Residual Value
#2 JDPower Quality
#1 Comfort
#1 Sound System

Performance came in 5th, Snobbery was 6th (i get the biased towards Japanese brands), but Tech-Geek was 6th also? It has the self park, and the same features as the other car makes, such as lane departure, led headlights, and radar cruise control, right? But yet, it was ranked at #4 overall?

Yet the 7 series got some of the worst scores:

#4 Residual Value
#5 JDPower Quality
#6 Comfort
#4 Sound System

But since its Performance was in 4th place (1 rank above LS), Snobbery in 3rd, and Tech-Geek #4, but it was ranked at #1 overall?

That's just complete bull****.

Blame Lexus for not allowing the LS Sport to be optioned with all the possible bells and whistles you mentioned then. But I agree that the overall ranking, while not necessarily an average of scores in individual categories, should not stray too far from it. If you read the last paragraph of the LS460 review where it says "Lago said this was the ideal car for a family member, so naturally he ranked it fourth.", we can be pretty much sure that the ranking in this case came down to pure personal preference of the journalists and not a score average.

Opinions are subjective so I'm not going to harp on it at length, but I think that for most people, LS, S and 7 are tops in terms of "snobbery" or badgehoreness in this class. XJ and A8 are also-rans that are trying to stage a comeback despite Jag's former glory days and Audi's recent surge, so I struggle to see them as topping the LS in that category.
