^^ Just what I was thinking. What is the point of having an Insight if your own Civic (a competitor to the COROLLA) can beat the prius. If they are so focused on beating the Prius, then work on the Insight!!

If what they say is true about the Civic hybrid, then I hope the drivetrain makes its way into the Insight, and to a lesser extent, the CR-Z. The current 1.3L mated with a very weak electric assisting motor doesn't really make much sense.

2012 Civic concept sketch. Looks almost like the current one.

Honda Civic Concept to Make World Debut at North American International Auto Show

TORRANCE, Calif., U.S.A., December 13, 2010 - The styling direction of the next-generation Honda Civic will debut at the 2011 North American International Auto Show in January, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced.

The company released a sketch of the Civic Concept that conveys the sleek and aerodynamic profile of the show vehicle. The production version of the ninth-generation 2012 Civic based on the revealed concept will go on-sale in spring 2011. John Mendel, American Honda executive vice president of sales, will introduce the concept vehicle at a press conference.

That sketching is so vague that it's hard to tell what the next gen really looks like. It just looks more aggressive, but that could be toned down greatly by the time it hits production.

We've seen this before-
Sketch comes out-Lowered, 30" wheels, huge brakes, tinted, exaggerated
Near concept comes out-lowered, 22" wheels, huge brakes, tinted, concept bumpers/paint
Real Honda comes out-ugly as sin, 13" wheels, tiny brakes, sheeptastic

Agreed, they seem to have taken the idea of 'modern design' way too far. The only company IMO to have succeeded by completely changing their styling theme is BMW (and they got a lot of crap at the start of it). The Acura TL used to be an extremely pretty car, but now it just looks heavy and over the top like it's trying too hard.

New Civic was just announced. Looks like they are still concepts but look to be pretty close to all of the spyshots we've been seeing.

So take off the huge wheels, the dropped suspension and kits and
1. Sedan will look the same
2. Coupe looks the same but gains the curve in the window ala Accord coupe

Will wait for production pics. I'm telling yall the new Elantra looks GREAT

I'm liking the front more than the back, but neither is that great...

Well, after looking at it a couple of times, at least its not as ugly as other recent Honda debuts. Front overhang is also shorter than what came on the CRZ.

Considering all of Honda's recent failures, this is much better than I had anticipated. But the 1996 Ford Taurus taillights are very old fashioned.

The rear of the coupe is definitely interesting.
