I'll buy it over the current GS lineup, E-Class except for the 63AMG, Infiniti M and possibly the new Audi A6. But it would personally be a hard toss up between the new 5 and this.

Its nice and all, much nicer than the current body style, which is still nice. But fromt the rear, I see Infiniti M all the way! Especially in the tail lamps.

Lexus really needs to step up in the next GS,

I'm all down for the industry doing the whole LED strip in the headlamps, but there is an overboard point and It just looks a little odd to me the way they have it shaped

Very nice looking car Hyundai has come around. Hopefully Lexus makes a splash with the next GS. I am wondering on the price of the R Spec as well. Not just the price but the performance specs too. A V6 numbers sounds good reminds me of the E46 M3. Looking forward to those performance specs as well.

great upgrades!

anyone who says this still doesn't compete with the GS is, uh, mistaken.
it also blows away the infiniti g sedan, infiniti m, acura tl, and lexus ES.
the driving dynamics of the 5 series are probably still better, but we'll see what the testers of the r-spec think!

WOW! I'm really impressed. Everything looks right on this car, although most is taken from another luxury brand. Would I drive one? No...I hate to sound like a snob, but in the end it is still a Hyundai.

Thing is, for everyone that keeps saying this, people that are shopping for a E, 5 or A6 NEW, prob are not cross shopping this car.

They did a great job on the car, just not sold that people with E,5 or A6 budgets are stopping in for a test drive in masses.

But clearly it will steal a lot of sales away from some other brands.

Exactly.

Spend some time on the BMW or MB boards and you'll see that this car simply doesn't matter in the lux sedan market to those buyers. Right or wrong, it will take a great deal of time to chisel away any significant sales from the 5 or E class.

429, 385, 333.

How can you not like any of those numbers?

The thing is there are a good number of former merc and bimmer owners that are now genesis owners. Right now it may not seem like much but bottom-line is that Hyundai is profitable and it looks like they're only getting better.

I agree that brand snobbery runs high with German brands, but what about taking away sales from the GS, A6 and M?

BMW 550i M-package loaded- $80K
E63 AMG- $90K+
S6, NOT an A6- $77K
(sorry GS can't run here, nor Infiniti, Acura, etc.)

Genesis R-spec $50K (comes loaded)

Think the handling will justify $30K+... no way, and I've been in the current Genesis numerous times... next door neighbor's... rides nice and wearing well... with this, no matter the snob appeal, I would go with this as a DD, and get an Aston, M3 comp package, Z06 or 911/Cayman/Boxster as a play car!!!

Practicality is still HUGE in my world!!!

Definition of Dawg's "world": a place where he nevers buys anything

Like others have said, it wont be stealing many sales from 5 series and E class.

It will steal sales from Acura, Infiniti, Avalon and ES. It will also steal some 3 series and C class sales.

It wont be stealing sales from GS and A6 either - there's nothing to steal. Those who want a GS/A6, are usually very particular about their choice.

These new V6's are truly amazing. In 04 CLK500 makes 302 hp and 339 torques. 7 years later you have a V6 that is 1.2 liters smaller and makes 30 more horses. That V8 was used up until 06.
