Depends on what you mean by "Best".
I agree that the three-pointed M-B star is one of the classiest. But I also like the Subaru-six-star for attractiveness, the gold Chevy bow-tie for clear/simple design, and the blue Ford Oval as the symbol of the company that did more than any other to put America (and eventually the world) on wheels, as many foreign companies copied Henry Ford's methods of mass-production.

This is such a subjective question, since so many logos are meaningful. Gonna give my Vote to Ford and the Blue Oval Though. A definitive American name known throughout the automotive world, domestic and abroad

And as a Sub-Logo, The Mustang also gets my vote. A legend and an Icon creating a whole new breed of cars

I don't really like logos that don't have the companies' names or at least the initials in them, like the Mercedes' 3-pointed star, which is well-known only because the company is well reputed in the first place. I agree with mordecai that Infiniti probably has the "best"/most meaningful logo of all automakers--it looks like an "I" in an oval and a road to the "infinity" and beyond.

Best vs meaningful is interesting.
Mercedes Benz is probably the best known luxury brand the world over.
Most meaningful.........
I always loved the Maserati trident:

Aston Martin screams class too:
