What are your favorite car logos?

True to some extent, but if it were entirely true, there would never have been hood ornaments. AT one time, hood ornaments were legion, and many people recognized vehicles by them. Pontiac and a few other makes, at one time, even had small bulbs inside the ornaments that made them glow at night. Even in recent times, they have only come off of of Buicks, Lincons, and Cadillacs just a few years ago, and are still used on some Mercedes products. The famous Jaguar "leaping-cat" ornaments are still available as options where pedestrian-impact-laws allow.
Buick tried eliminating them at the factory in the 1990s, and the uproar from customers was so high that dealerships were actually having to mount them back on (in an aftermarket manner) on new cars they delivered. Eventually Buick, with the Lucerne, Enclave, Century, and 1-Gen LaCrosse, eiminated them anyway, despite the customer complaint (as Cadillac did on the DTS), but some of those Buick/Cadillac customers still don't like the fact that they were eliminated. Same with Lincoln.
An interesting case also happened with the Hyundai Genesis sedan. The early models were put in production with no Hyundai logos on them....just "Genesis" badges on the trunk (the marketing idea was to emphasize the "Genesis" label rather than as a Hyundai product). The car was roundly criticized for that in the auto-press for that oversight. Hyundai recognized the error and quickly added the company "H" logos not long afterward.

I think that Infiniti, Lexus, and Acura all have nicely done logos that are instantly recognizable by the general public (and thus serve their purpose well).
The worst I would say is Nissan. Nissan makes great cars, but I never thought their logo was attractive. It's the only one I can think of it that actually takes away from the car's overall style.
The coolest today would have to be the light-up crystal version of Rolls' spirit of ectasy. Never seen one in person, but sure is cool in pictures.

I dont think i really have a favorite, there are too many that have great meanings. The spirit of ecstasy probably tops my list though.
I think this question can also be subjective depending on what time period. Most manufactures revamp their logos fairly periodically for styling and other purposes. I enjoy seeing a lot of the older logos because they most likely are more true to their meaning and what they represent, plus its just awesome to see the evolution of them.

Really? Karl Benz invented the modern automobile The first benz was sold at least 5 years before anything the Duryea brothers built, and Ford wasn't even founded and incorporated until 1903 ...
