Default Renting a RV

Have any of you ever ranted an RV? I'm thinking of renting a sprinter RV and go on a nice family vacation visiting the national parks and what not.
If you have what were your experiences with dealing with the rental company? I enjoy long drive's but would a 2 week vacation turnout to be more tiresome than relaxing?

Any kids and what ages? If so, will you drive each other nuts in such close quarters for so long?

Renting is a great way to try RVing and see if it is right for you. A big class B like a sprinter is a great size for touring v. camping in one location for a number of days.

Learn all the systems before you go. Plan to use campground showers and bathrooms, especially for, well, you know. Class B gray water (shower & sink) and black water (toilet) tanks are quite small. Plus there's the lack of room.

If everyone has a positive attitude, it'll be a fun trip with lots of great memories. Growing up, we took a 3 week vacation every other summer to drive from Ohio to California to visit family and sightsee along the way. Those trips provided some of our best childhood memories.

I too have great childhood memories of several camping trips in Sierras.
Renting to try RVing makes a lot of sense to me (even though I personally have only traveled in family owned rigs)

Do it. It will be something you and your family will cherish and remember forever. Great times, great fun, and the great outdoors. You can't go wrong.

I've always wanted to do this and drive cross country, but the mileage cost on rental RV's are a bit high for my taste.

yeah, we kinda been looking into and the fees kinda added up quickly.
We are looking into asking someone that we know and pay them for a weeks worth.

My boss rented an RV for his east coast trip last summer. He said it was lots of fun at the beginning, but started missing taking a nice shower after a while. I assume the shower in the RV would be a little lacking versus a proper shower at home (limited water supply and heat source if not hooked up to a camp ground source).

I read somewhere that the cheapest way is to use other transportation to the area where you want to tour and then rent an RV there to keep the rental miles down.

If it's your first time, don't go all over the country. Do something more local or within state so you adjust and get the feel for it.
