Which Cars Have The Best Seats?
#31
My first generation RX had probably the most comfortable seats I've experienced. The later generations: not so good. I recently checked out some new Volvos. I didn't think their seats were so great. More often than not, I find European car seats to be too firm. For some reason, cheaper cars, like most rental cars, have softer seats that I find more comfortable than those in expensive cars. The seats in my LS430 are OK, but a little on the too-firm side.

Lexus Test Driver
Great thread and a big issue for me, because sometimes I have some back pain.
From personal experience..
1. Lexus IS300, took mine with lowered suspension on many 12 plus hour driving days, no pain at all, I think someone modding a IS is insane to get rid of the seats, they are perfect!
2. Mazda CX-9, maybe copied from Volvo ( XC90 is grandfather to the CX-9), has every adjustment you can think of and lumbar support. Took one on a 5 hour drive and no discomfort at all!
3. Mazda 3 grand touring, has leather seats that are very comfortable and supportive, maybe more Volvo influnce
4. Mitsubishi eclipse with leather seats, owned the car over 8 years and the seats never let me down..
5. Lexus SC, I am looking to get a SC300 soon and one of the reasons are the great seats!

My 94 Mitsubishi Eclipse had probably the most comfortable seats I have sat in. They were cloth, had decent side support and you just sat kind of low in the car like in a lounge chair. My friends would always comment how comfortable the seats were too. It is funny how a inexpensive sporty car has more comfortable seats to me then 50K+ luxury cars I have sat in or owned.

Im gonna have to side with the Volvo guys on this one. My buddy back in high school had an S70 and while the car itself was nothing special, his seats were really comfy. Just had to take off his stupid sheepskin seat covers. Besides those Ill rank a few seats Ive had the pleasure/displeasure of riding long distances in.
1. Volvo
2. SC300/400 (TX to SoCal 6 times with no issues)
3. LS400 (1G not so much, 2Gen much better)
4. GS300/RX330 (nothing THAT special)
5. LS430 (I thought they'd be better - was using someone elses settings tho)
6. Supra Seats (my current seats - only good for spirited driving)
7. Cadillac STS (OMG do not go long distances in these, major neck and back pain on the same trip the SC300 took)
