That logic makes Eskimos infertile and incapable of breeding.

But then again, have you seen any Eskimos lately?

What cooled seats affect is simply the number of $$$$$ (and labor-hours at the plant) it costs to design and build a vehicle. Auto-marketers will say and do almost anything to avoid having to admit simple cost-cutting. They would have you believing in the Tooth-Fairy.

This stuff, as I see it, is right along the same nonsense that M-B Reps use to explain why they don't use real leather in new vehicles costing 50-60K (or more), but try and hide it with cheaper vinyl, M-B-Tex, Leatherette, etc.....materials. You either pay extra for a real-leather option, or buy their top-of-the-line models (like AMGs, for instance) to get it standard.

A couple years ago, cooled seats were touted as the next great thing that would transition from luxury cars to popular cars. They were touted as "green" because it lowered A/C load and improved MPG while maintaining passenger comfort. The only problem is that many people complain that cooled seats make them feel like they wet their pants.

Never been two impressed with heated/cooled seats, I never feel any change. But why Benz doesn't have it is for their own safety.

Thx caddy owner for the explanation on how cooled seats work. Ive always wondered if they blew actual air conditioning out and was always worried that I might get that mildew smell (like those from vents after air conditioning) from the seats as well, but now I know it just uses cabin air.

No. (Check out my earlier post...#19). It's simple cost-cutting.

Thanks for facts RXSF (instead of guesses about MB). On the MB E350 for example heated / vented seat option is a $450 option.

MB has ventilated (not cooled) seats as experienced in my E63 and S550. On really hot days or after a workout I wish they were cooled, but on really cold days I'm able to turn on the heated seats and ventilated seats at the same time so it really warms up my butt fast

^^ yes I was just reading the ventilated seat option on the CLS, and it says you can turn on both ventilated and heated at the same time to warm up faster. thats clever...

refrigerated seats would be a welcome feature in hot countries (like Middle East and some parts of South East Asia)
