Take a CLOSE LOOK @ the wheel pic and you will see that its a wheel from the Equus (same EXACT WHEEL) and it even has the Equus logo on the center cap.
Is this supposed to be Kia's version of the Equus top level luxury car?

Yes b/c people didin't/don't make cheap shots against Toyota/Lexus. Sorry but don't except the entire world to want to fap off to Kia/Hyundai for catching up to everyone else. Its great they are finally building good cars.
Won't comment on the car b/c there is so much of it masked. That said a RWD, Equus based Kia will get some buyers as well and lol at Acura again.
That was my cheap shot.

Well, I don't think anything in the thread qualifies as fap.
But people do seem more than willing to find the negative in most any sort of progress in Hyundai/Kia (and Nissan Infiniti or Honda/Acura). Just like some lambasting the styling of a test mule which is 95% unseen. I don't see it as having anything to do with Toyota though that's where it usually ends up.
I just believe in giving credit where due (no matter who the company happens to be) and I just happen to think that the Korean company is due more credit than criticism. And when criticism is valid and reasonable let there be that too.

I see a lot of positive comments about the brand too. Depends on what one looks for. Its easy to go in a thread, see a couple of negative comments and conclude "oh there is so much hate in here".
To me looking at most threads, the majority of comments are positive with a few negative. Yet some people want to stress the negative posts (and we have rabid fanbois logging in just to argue against them).
People are entitled to share their opinions once they don't break rules, don't bait, don't flame. Not sure why anyone would expect there not to be some negative commentary. We read it in Ferrari, LFA, GT-R, Lambo, Aston etc threads.
If this K9 is brought here, it will elevate the brand. Maybe its Genesis based and not Equus based? I've said it in the past, I think Kia/Hyundai strategy of producing these luxury cars without a separate arm is fine. It elevates their brand compared to a Ford, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Suzuki, etc etc here.

The amazing thing about Hyundai/Kia is that they have made strides, not just in quality, but in image. As you mentioned above, their latest products (though their sales figures could be the point of some debate) elevate the brands to those that are not just ambitious but expressions of a company with the will, resources, and ability to execute. This is the same company that entered the U.S. market in 1986 with a single cardboard value product called the Excel.

To an extent, yes actually. The Forte looks a lot like a Civic especially from the front end. The new Rio looks a lot like a VW Golf.
However, my comment was in reference to Hyundai/Kia, since they are the same company.
The Maserati-style fender ports are visible even with the camo, as is the general style of the grille. We can also see the general style of the headlights.
People also immediately jump on and take issue with anyone criticizing Hyundai/Kia, as if criticizing them is not allowed. This is especially odd considering this is not a Hyundai/Kia forum or community.

Well, Car Lounge is where all makes are discussed, right? I don't think anything is above criticism, that includes your favorite brands (I for one will not hold back from stepping hard to even my own favorite car makers if I feel they deserve criticism, for example, I really like Infiniti but they just plain flubbed it with the new M and I make no excuses for them). But some do take cheap shots, as mentioned above.
