What sports car would you buy for $32k?
I'm looking to trade in my daily driver IS250 for something different. Works stressful and I need something FUN. What sports car would you recommend for $32k max?
I'm thinking 07' Corvette. Tons of power, targa (yay!), relatively low maintenance and daily drivable. Thoughts?!

A 'Vette, agreed, is fun to drive (in safe conditions), but it will probably not have the same kind of reliablity that an IS250 does. Insurance premiums will (likely) be higher. I don't know what kind of shape your back and legs are in (I'm assuming you are a younger man), but, if not, low-slung sports cars can be difficult get in and out of. And forget driving a 'Vette in the winter, especially without purpose-designed snow tires.
For 32K, before buying a used 'Vette, consider a brand-new Mustang GT. GTs start around 30K. I recently reviewed one, and was generally pleased with it except for the balky 6MT....but the balky linkage may have been a quirk on my test car. Other reviews did not mention any problem. Like the 'Vette, though, it does have the 1-4 Skip-Shift feature for economy.

Get the vette. I had a C3 and C5 - both with targa tops. Modern vettes are comfortable, fairly reliable, and get good MPG on trips. You can remove the top, secure it in the back, and drive without a lot of turbulence in the cabin. Besides, the vette gets 'em wet.

Example, I bought my 92 in 2003 for $32K with about 80K miles on it. Drove it for 3 years and sold it in 2006 with 90K+ for about $27K to my brother. Now here we are in 2011, and the prices haven't come down at all. I'm still going to have to spend around $30K for a 91-94.
