Will There Ever Be A V6 LS?
I think I read somewhere that Lexus plans to have a V6 model of the LS.
Looking at how BMW did it with their 740i, I think Lexus could (and should) pull it off and increase the sales of the LS immensely.
The 750i is pushing 400 HP, with the 740i at 315 HP.
The LS460 is at 380 HP, and I can see the LS360(?) at 300 HP.
Looking at the Base MSRP of the BMW 750i, $82,500, and that of the BMW 740i, $70,650, there is a price difference of about 14%.
Having the same 14% price decrease on the current LS460s Base MSRP of $66,230, that will mean that a V6 LS360(?) model, will be starting at $56,960.
I'm a pretty slow driver (surprising isn't it, coming from a 23 yr old? lol), so I wouldn't mind a 300hp LS460. Since I'll just be cruising in it, enjoying my car.
Thoughts?

BMW is rocking a V6 7 series, and even Mercedes is sporting a V6 model. Are you telling me that both of these don't scream luxury?
The way I see it, I think Lexus should join this V6 Flagship Sedan wagon. It's base msrp is already starting $15k less than the BMW, and almost $20k compared to the Benz.
The V6 model of the bmw is at $70k, and the benz at $92k!
Imagine a V6 Lexus starting at $57k, that wouldn't dominate the market?
It will even ruin the sales of the hyundai Equus, which is starting at $58k, that's $1k more than the V6 model (If Lexus ever decides to make it, and I hope it does!)

LS with a V6 would be a good idea in countries that have ridiculously high gas prices.
Mercedes and BMW can do it because MB doesn't have a cheaper vehicle comparable to the S-class. Same goes for BMW. (Correct me if i'm wrong on this point.)
of course the other side of the issue would be, would they be stealing sales away from similar toyota models? Toyota has so many cars that maybe they might hurt their own sales.
It's not easy to figure out.

V6 nowadays are smoother than ever with more output than older generation V8s. The only thing that those old V8 has going for them is the number of cylinder counts, and it's only worth noting if that's an important bragging right for you.
I would take the current 2GR-FE over the first 1UZ-FE any day of the week. More powerful with better efficiency in a smaller package.

With engines becoming more economical and fuel efficient from before, the old v8 is the new v6. Smaller engine that produces near similar performance output of a larger engine, all the while keeping gas costs down and MPG up- I don't know that many who wouldn't want that. But I can understand Kaydee's point. Especially for political figures and people in the public eye, perception is everything. The older MB and BMW vehicles and those powerful SUVs were V8, luxurious, and commanded everyone's attention. Will they roll up in the same car with a V6? I personally don't think so, but times are changing.
