Default Prius C Concept

How much do you think it will cost, and the type of mileage it will get?

We don't have any actual specs now, and the car isn't going to be released for another year.

I'm hoping it gets a Base MSRP of $16,995, with 65-75 MPG. That would be amazing.

What are your thoughts?

I am thinking $18k and over $20k it is going to be a PHEV. My guess would be between 55 and 60 MPG if the current 1.8L is used. However, it should be much lighter, so perhaps a smaller engine could do it some justice.

^You really think so? I think this is the nicest looking Prius I've seen. The current 3rd Gen Prius starts at $23k. If this nice looking car can start at $5k less, and get even more gas mileage, why not?

Legacy, you really think it'll cost $18k? Whats PHEV by the way?

I like it from where the windows start, up. Everything below that point is fugly. The lines are off, the headlights look retarded sitting right near the windshield, that front looks like a snow plow. I've never been a huge fan of the original prius, then again I think it looks leaps and bounds better than this monstrosity.

And now I know why I like it from the windows up, it reminded me of the matrix, which I've always liked:

PHV (as Toyota calls it) = Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle

A PHEV / PHV is a hybrid vehicle with the option of plugging it in to charge the batteries so that you can drive further without using the internal combustion engine.

Toyota is testing out a Prius PHV now with plans to start selling it in 2012.

The Chevrolet Volt, which GM calls an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV), is essentially a PHEV.

It looks much better than the current Prius. It sort of reminds me of the styling for the FT-86 concept.

I think if they're thinking about expanding the Prius family, I don't know if this car will be plug-in.

It'll cost too much to be an underling to the Prius (which I feel most likely will be).

I dont see how it can get more than 55 MPG (10% better than Prius)... and how cheap can it be?

i mean if it has same powertrain as Prius, how can it be a lot cheaper? just shaving few inches of body doesnt make it a lot cheaper.

Lets say it is 10% smaller, and 10% lighter, it will take a miracle to make it 10% more efficient because other factors come into play like aerodynamics.

The concept was amazing looking! The production looks like...****. :/

Anyway, correct me if I'm wrong:

But 1,500,000 yen, translates to $17,900 USD.

And 44.0 kilometers translates to 27 miles? This can't be right, it's supposed to get better mileage than the Prius, not half of it.
