Dual exhausts have become really a common sight on cars today. Before it was seen in luxury or high performance cars, but now basically every vehicle has it; cars and SUVs. Even affordable cars are getting them. Lexus and Toyota has them on most of their cars, but why not the SUVs like the RX, LX, GX, Highlander, RAV4, 4Runner, or Sequoia? It only seems fair since just about every company is doing it on their SUVs. Examples: Mercedes ML, BMW X5, Land Rover Range Rover, Honda Pilot.

This has been discussed before.
Short answer, is that many Toyota/Lexus spare tire locations make the "dual outlets" more difficult to package.
Personally I prefer dual outlet exhaust setups, as seen on Edge, GL, ML, X5, GLK, Murano, MDX, Cayenne, Toureg, Explorer and very likely the new Escape/Kuga.
Although in reality it's mostly a styling cliche, manufacturers can justify by the insignificant increase in power.

I am kind of over the steel exhaust back there in circular form (like they had on the 2gen RX). It was a styling fad in the 2000s, but I feel like we are moving towards bumper integrated exhausts/squarish designs. Perhaps it is packaging like IS-SV said, but that is a lame excuse if they cant find a way to engineer around that.

^^ Agreed, it's more about being lazy / lame excuse when it comes to lack of dual outlets.
Good point about dual outlets being integrated into bumpers, I like the look and most paying consumers probably do too.
Unlike many styling cliches, dual exhaust outlets are functional in a very small way (very small hp and fuel efficiency gains to help justify the effort). More importantly the market wants dual outlets, myself included.

To be honest, i love the dual exhausts. It may sound stupid, but i almost bout an acura tl over my es300 just because it looked so much better and more symmetrical. For the lexus suv's though, it would just look out of place. I feel like its something for sportier suv's the lx and gx just don't qualify and unless they integrated it into the rx's bumper, it would look very out of place
