Three years ago, in 2008, the high gas prices, at least in my area, did significantly affect traffic-density. Today, for some reason, that doesn't seem to be the case as much.....we still have the famous D.C.-area gridlock. Of course, where you are in FL, maybe it is affecting traffic more.....do you notice that in your area?
But the recreational or elective long distance travel between major urban areas was significantly reduced in CA and other western states (between SJ/LA/Sacramento/Lake Tahoe/Vegas, as examples). The reduction I just mentioned was visible and obvious to a casual observer. I'm looking forward to possible impact on the open road this summer, I'm thinking about a road trip mid-summer.
