Forza Motorsport 4 video hits the web
Someone at Turn 10 Studios has apparently "leaked" (sure, guys) a fully-polished, high-quality sneak peek at its upcoming Forza Motorsport 4 to YouTube. The newest installment of Forza leverages Kinect technology, allowing players to open the doors and hoods of their cars with hand motions and fire the engine from the driver's seat. During a race, Kinect also lets players look around corners by detecting head movement.
Turn 10 says its goal is to produce the best-looking racing sim of 2011, employing methods like image-based lighting to get as much photorealistic quality as they can out of each car and track. Turn 10 also says that Forza 4 will have the most extensive range of models to choose from, with cars from over 80 manufacturers. Plan on slipping Forza 4 into your XBOX 360 in October.

Lol, even with its 4th iteration, Forza cannot even lay a finger on the Gran Turismo series which has more copies sold.
That is because Gran Turismo is a legend. The true king of racing video games.

I heard Shift 2 wasn't that good in that area.

Since the beggining of GT series I was the one that never liked their visual approach, end effect is super dull once you get out of photo mode. Everything is modest, desaturated, washed out just yuck and with GT5 is no different. I am glad that racing game devs finally stopped following GT and went back to what NFS did best back in 97-00 and thats telling the story trough visuals with each track you visit.
BTW my current fav racing game is GRID Racing is intense, something that GT and Forza are missing big time.

Well, photorealistic graphics are still far far away, but also most people are using hardware thats antiquated. The current generation of consoles is what, 6-7 years old?
If you play the same games on a modern PC, they look infinitely better compared to their Xbox360/PS3 versions.
Besides, kids today are spoiled. This is what the first racing video games I played looked like

Gotta love old arcade machines.
Back in the mid-late 80ies, my father worked in a Hotel where he serviced all the electronics including arcade machines they had in the lobby. My friends and I used to go to his work when school was off, and he would let ua play all of these for free. These soviet machines used to cost 15 Russian cents (kopejka) to play and I enjoy them for free.
This particular one was my favorite
They actually made a flash game that recreates it
