Default Toyota Tundra seat belt chimes

Does anyone know how to disable the seatbelt chimes on a 2011 Toyota Tundra? They are insane! I use the truck on the job site and moving the truck short distances makes me want to look for another job.
Thanks in advance!

There's a relatively easy mod to wire the chime to an on/off switch.

Don't ask me how -- I don't know. But I've seen other people do it on their cars.

My 2006 IS is a PITA with the seat belt chime. There are so many steps to turn it off that i wrote it down and keep a copy in the glove box if i ever need it again, lol.

*Note i wear my seat belt all the time.

Wink

******I AM NOT ADVOCATING DRIVING YOUR TRUCK WITHOUT YOUR SEATBELT ON********

But in the interest of the annoyance of moving it around a job site and the relatively low speeds involved, simply get a seat belt buckle from a junkyard. Insert into latch, noise gone. Unplug when not needed. Problem solved.

Like Big Mack, I'm not advocating driving significant distances without your belt (and many states have laws mandating their use). But if those chimes and red warning-lights drive you nuts just moving a couple feet or so on private-property (and, I agree, I find them annoying too), then it's very simple. Just buckle the latch before you get in, then get in and sit down on top of the belt. That way, you will fool the sensors.......they will detect your weight on the seat, and the belt buckled at the same time, without you actually being buckled, and will not go off. But I only recommend this for safe and appropriate conditions, though....certainly not on public toads with traffic.

Thumbs up

Hahahaha. I hadn't even searched for it - we used this when moving cars in and out of the shop, so it's nice to know it's a widespread solution. Interesting that Toyota will give away an extender, though. I'm sure that would come in handy for some people.

Good call, Mike. I would never advocate driving on public toads. I can't imagine that is safe or appropriate.

Hey, lots of typos and spelling errors get accidentally posted in this forum. Mine are no exception.
