Thanks buddy. I usually find that the guys here are mainly interested in the newest latest . I find automotive history fascinating. Especially from the late 40's to the late 60's.

OK, here's my favorite car trivia when some "classic-muscle" fan is going on about how fast his car is:
Can you name the cars that held the title of fastest production car in the US at the end of the 50's, at the end of the 60's, and at the end of the 70's?
This prompts an unstoppable diatribe of BS whereby every American muscle-car ever produced is named.
The answer is that the Jaguar XK120 (1949-1954) held that title the entire time at 137 mph. Oddly enough, throughout the golden years of American muscle, no production vehicle reproduced that speed due to gearing, aerodynamics, weight. There were cars that could do it, but they were modified or were never production models. At the end of the Jag's 35 year run at the top of the heap, when the 125 mph 1982 Corvette was replaced with the 150 mph 1984 Corvette that would have taken the bragging rights, Ferrari had already upped the bar to about 190 mph earlier that year, preventing GM from laying claim to the title in what appears to be the only shot it ever had. Some timing, huh?
