Not a bad deal. Definitely a good bang for the buck. Please keep us posted on the 40 MPG claim. I'd like to see what real world numbers are like.

Man i wish i couldve drove a brand new ride like that when i turned 16 in 1991. Instead it was a 79 Buick Century slant back with the back windows that didnt roll down!!!! Happy Bday to your daughter. Lucky girl to have parents of the sort like you. It seems like it has a lot of the options of my 05 LS(bluetooth, camera, nav). Is my car obsolete now

Excellent choice.

This car makes all others in the segment look boring and dated. And 40 mpg standard without the need of a special high efficiency version like the Cruze and Focus is truly impressive.

Hyundai is the new benchmark. There, I said it.

BTW, C&D just did a comparo with the new Focus, Mazda3, Elantra and Jetta.
Yep, read the article before purchasing. My company issued me a 2010 Fusion last March and I don't really care for the euronomics of the Ford lineup. Too many buttons and too much distraction for a 16yr old.

You an me both brother....

I started my driving life in a 83 El Camino (painted about the same color as my daughters car now that I think about it).

I then graduated to an 87 GMC Jimmy with the never ending, or repairable, oil leak.

In a recent C&D comparo the new Elantra was competitive with the other cars in their 400 mile trip.

Cruze (18mpg), Focus (21), Elantra (20), Mazda3 (18) and Jetta (20).
