The Jetta ia a better car in every aspect except reliability,IMO.
My buddy has a body shop and says the European vehicles (especially Audi's) are much better built than the Japanese vehicles.Electronics not so much.

The Jetta isn't even made in Germany, its made in Mexico.

As a matter of fact I'm looking at the video and I can't tell which is the Corolla and which is the Jetta.

not true at all. pretty much everything on that video is stories for kids.

he should have compared it with 2011 Jetta and showed reliability ratings - VW spends $10 on stupid gas struts and then skimps on things like everything else.

11-13 yr old
1. Toyota RAV4 10,2
2. Toyota Starlet 12,0
Subaru Forester 12,0
4. Toyota Corolla 12,9
5. Mercedes SLK 13,0

9. BMW Z3 16,3
10. VW Polo 17,3

VW: 10th, 17th, 18th, 34th, 39th, 50th

so much about "build" quality.

And TUV is mandatory technical inspections, nothing to do with electronics, which is why VW scored as well as they did :-)

The man's a salesman doing his job.

Point is even with all his safety and quality "concerns" of the Corolla I'm certain if go you by and offer him $11K for his example of one of the most sold cars in the world he will be quite complementary to the car.

PS make sure you video it

I love my Wolf... 15,800 miles with 1-year anniversary next week, knock on wood, not a problem yet after the passenger window seal was fixed Week 1... free oil/maint to 36K miles

34 mpg highway (at 75-80) and tons of smiles... oh yeah, base stereo and it rocks!!!

You know while I never had much interest in VW I did like the Jetta 2 generations ago and the Passat in the 90s and the one 2 gens ago. I liked the Coraddo. I respect the Phaeton even though it flopped. I also remember the W12 supercar. The new GTI seems nice. The new Touarag is a looker. I don't hate the brand, too bland to hate.

Yet all I've mostly seen from the VW camp is giant hate and distaste for Toyota like Toyota imprisoned their mothers and made them eat candle wax. Its really bad how they hate the success of Toyota and bash Toyota to no end while VW seems to have recently taken the Toyota playbook and use it in the de contented Corolla looking Jetta and new Passat.

The hate for Toyota so many people display is mind boggling sometimes.

Each car both have their advantages and disadvantages. Reliability isn't the only thing people care about. Some lease their cars so they don't give a damn about long term reliability, but they do care about interior fit and finish.

It's a salesmen' tactic and it happens with every brand. It's a common practice to highlight your advantages and ignore the disadvantages when you're on camera. One thing I do have to say though is that despite the Corolla having a flimsy trunk, it still is a safe car. The gas struts are just one of the neat features, but defintiely not crucial for safety.

Your buddy is smoking crack...and you are smocking crack for believing a word of that bs....

Let's hear WHY the VW is better in every respect.... Don't make claims like that and leave it open. I've worked for VW for a few years and they are the biggest piles of **** on the road. They break down every week and a few times a month if you are lucky. And they have alot more issues then electrical. They're just bad cars. When I worked at Toyota.... 90% of all the Corollas only came in for regular scheduled maintenance and oil changes. Now tell me what's a better car.
