The available AMG Performance Package takes total output up to 557 PS (410 kW / 549 bhp)
Mercedes-Benz will be adding its 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8 to the 2012 E63 AMG with a performance package that take total output up to 557 PS (410 kW / 549 bhp).
In its standard configuration, the new power plant makes for 525 PS (386 kW / 518 bhp) - same as on the old 6.3 liter unit.
But this new engine is far more efficient than that large, naturally-aspirated 6.3 liter, shaving 2.8 liters/100 km off of its fuel-economy rating - now down to 9.8 liters/100 km for the 5.5 liter bi-turbo V8.
And with that new AMG performance package, the new E63 with 557 PS does the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint in just 4.2 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). The AMG Driver's Package gets that top speed bumped up to 300 km/h (186 mph) if you do your homework and take a driving class at the AMG Driving Academy.
The new 2012 E63 AMG is priced at €105,791 and €108,409 for the sedan and wagon variants, respectively, in Germany. The AMG Performance package costs €8307.

This is awesome, I have been waiting for this since both the S63 and CLS63 got this motor already
The old E55 with the blown V8 was awesome, E63 sounds cool, but down on power and torque. Now this V8 Twin Turbo will rock hard!
So 550 hp for the next E63, 580 hp for the F10 M5, the last RS6 was 580 with the V10 Twin Turbo......man this is getting nuts! Too bad these cars all weight so much, all over 4000 lbs now, wait til carbon fiber get cheaper to make, then we are talking! A 650 hp M5 that weight 3000 lbs! That's Enzo speed.

The $62k ISF barely sell even though it is a great car.

The Lexus name lacks the image and heritage to sell a $100k mid size performance sedan in high volume.

People said that when the LS was the first 100k Japanese sedan. People bought it.
People said that about the LFA. People bought it.
If Lexus makes it, they will come. The IS F forum proves that, tons of people in there and many from other brands that had M3s, etc.
Lexus is building its F marque, just like BMW did with M, Benz with AMG etc....AMG only had 1 car its first few years, then added the E55 and then expanded like nuts. It takes time.

True enough Mike, BUT, as has been beat to death in the 4GS thread, if they don't bring a GS F with +500 hp, price it below the Germans by $10K minimum, and have something differentiating about it, they should skip it all together as it would be a major step backwards after the IS F and the LF A.

$50k is easy for most people.
Sure they sold a bunch of LS460s, but they are mostly $65k~$75k version. Fully loaded $95k LS460L and $100k+ LS600s are sold in pretty low volume.
500 copies for one time are not hard to sell. Lexus can't sell thousands and thousands of LFA continously like Ferrari do with the 599.
Sales volume of ISF is way less then the direct competitor M3 and C63.
Agreed 100%......it takes time, Lexus is just starting.
Don't get me wrong, I love Lexus, I am really hoping Lexus would make a Japanese M5, S63, S65, Maybach 57S, Mulsanne.....etc.........I just don't think they can swing that high for a very long time.
I would love it if Lexus make a separate ultra highend brand like Maybach, because I am going to be ready for a higher level car then the LS but I don't want the reliability concerns of European brands. I want it to happen, I just don't think Toyota can pull it off for a long time.

I hope it comes too, if the GS-F come with a Twin Turbo 5.0L V8 with 550 hp and a 9-speeds automatic, I would be a serious buyer
I didn't say for certain because I prefer the LS size, so LS-F with 550 hp V8 TT, yes I will definitely be an owner. But Lexus can't and won't make that car for a very long time. I really want a Japanese AMG S63.
