Suzuki Kizashi Apex Turbo Concept
Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge Concept
The highlight of the tune is hidden under the hood as the Kizashi Apex Concept sports a turbocharged unit based on the stock 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Along with a Garrett turbocharger, engineers added an air-to-liquid intercooler and an electronic boost control, and optimized the engine control unit. Suzuki says the system takes the Kizashi's peak output into the 275-300 horsepower range, with a maximum boost of 8.5 psi.
"Our turbo-equipped concept leverages the already-exceptional Kizashi platform and infuses it with a substantial boost," said Steve Younan, director of automotive marketing and product planning, American Suzuki Motor Corporation. "The Kizashi Apex Concept will further elevate our flagship sedan in the U.S. among enthusiasts who crave added power and performance."
Unfortunately for those enthusiasts, Suzuki did not say if it has any plans to introduction a production version of the turbocharged Kizashi.

The prototype sedan is motivated by a 144HP 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine, working in tandem with an electric propulsion system comprising of a liquid-cooled 15-kW motor/generator unit tied to a 115-volt air-cooled lithium-ion battery.
To further improve efficiency, the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept makes use of numerous fuel-saving technologies such as regenerative braking, a start/stop system, fuel cut-off during deceleration events and low-rolling resistance tires. While Suzuki did not release specific figures, the comapny said that the EcoCharge Concept delivers a 25 percent improvement in highway fuel economy over the standard Kizashi.
To justify its conceptual nature, Suzuki made some styling changes to the Kizashi EcoCharge that include a unique luminescent white satin paint design with a subtle blue undercoat, along with the addition of modified headlamps, LED fog lights and bespoke alloy wheels.
