I had a Mini Cooper S cabrio for about 5 years before I traded it in on my ISC. It was a good car and it was a LOT of fun. Here's my assesment - Mini = better mileage and way more fun to drive / Civic = more reliable and better fit an finish over all. The MINI also has more goodies to make the drive more fun/easier (ie more luxury options).
BTW, ended up selling the MINI because it was starting to have some minor issues.

You think you'll save enough in depreciation to pay for an entire additional car (including insurance, registration, taxes, scheduled maintenance, etc) as well as make up for the drop-off in experience spending "most" of your time in a slow FWD civic versus an IS-F?
We may have to agree to disagree on that.

Now if you said you were interested in getting a used (ie. pre-2005) model Civic, that would make more sense.

My teenage brother had the mini cooper s fully loaded, but totalled it (he had the car for about 1.5 years and has like 15k miles on it and insurance paid out $1000 less of the purchase price, which was like $32k- so I would have to say it holds up it's value better than the civic). My parents bought him a new civic as a temporary car and keep as another spare car for the family after my parents get him a M3 within this year. He definitely misse the mini's sportiness, but lives with it knowing he will only have to put up with it for another few months.
