George Lopez gives Ron Artest 'Lakers Edition' Hyundai Genesis Sedan
What do you say when the backup late night host on a basic cable network buys you an aspirational Korean luxury car? Welcome to a day in the life of Ron Artest, who was given this awful "Lakers edition" Hyundai Genesis by forgotten late night host George Lopez.
This all happened back in March, before LA gave up two games to Dallas in the playoffs, but because it happened on the George Lopez Show none of us found out about it until today. Apparently Lopez said he'd buy Artest a Rolls Royce but Artest said all he needed was a "Hyundai." Lopez split the difference and gave him a tastelessly modified Hyundai Genesis sedan that looks sort of like a Bentley.
Platinum Motorsport upgraded the car with a yellow-flake paint, gold-rimmed grille, and yellow-look headlights. The interior has a Bugatti Veyron-esque fill pattern on the seats with yellow-on-purple leather inserts everywhere and Lakers floormats.

Not really sure if Artest digs it. If he doesn't then I'm sure he could auction it off or something to some diehard Lakers fan but honestly, I'm not even sure anyone would really want that car.

COnsidering Artest loves the media and never seemed to mention it (I'm a Lakers fan, never heard of this) he probably left it at the George Lopez Show

When Ron Artest dropped by “Lopez Tonight” after last season’s Lakers championship win, big-time Lakers fan George Lopez offered to buy Artest a Rolls Royce Phantom similar to the one Khloe Kardashian bought Lamar Odom. Ron-Ron being Ron-Ron replied, “It’s OK, I’ll take a Hyundai.” It appears George is a man of his word because he bought a Hyundai Genesis, tricked it out in Lakers gold and purple, and presented it to Ron when he came back on his show in March. Finally, we get to see some detailed pictures.
If this was any other NBA player, I imagine he would donate this car to a friend or family member because a true baller obviously can’t be seen driving around in a friggin’ Hyundai. But this is Ron Artest we’re talking about, so I’m almost positive this is now his main ride and that it will make an appearance if the Lakers have a three-peat victory parade in June.
CelebrityCarz.com isn’t feeling this custom job, giving it a two out of 10 while calling it “a joke and gimmick car” and “not too impressive”. In terms of “RonArtest-ness” though, I give it a 10 out of 10.

Total fail imo and im sure Hyundai is not too please about Artests remark or the Lopez custom job done to one of their premier sedans. Not that they are bad cars but it goes to show that Hyundai still has a way to go in public perception. Anyway i think they modded this car ugly on purpose.

thought a gift should be something nice. I understand that its supposed to be a Lakers car but did they really need to put the purple and yellow ALL over the place. ghetto
