Red face Murano ugly needs competition..Audi Q5 Cabriolet coming in 2012 - report

Production could be limited to 5,000 units

Convertible crossovers may not make a lot of sense, but Audi is reportedly considering a production version of the Cross Cabriolet concept.

Details are limited, but Auto Express says the model would retain the concept's two-door layout and canvas roof. Furthermore, the Q5 Cabriolet would have a bespoke interior which would help to justify the premium £40,000 ($65,375 / €45,700) price tag.

If approved, production could be limited to 5,000 units and the crossover would be built, in late 2012, by an independent contractor such as Magna Steyr or Valmet.

Looks better than Murano and will most likely not have as much chassis flex (if approved for production).

you guys are being harsh. looks are subjective and these companies do tons of research before they design and release these things. I think they will turn heads at the stop lights and would be fun to drive with the top down. Why wouldn't the soccer mom want that fun convertible that she cant have because she has kids. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that thousands of other people will not.

Research must not be conclusive or promising, not approved for production.

Why wouldn't the soccer mom and DIY dad want a perfectly capable Pontiac Aztek to carry to kids to soccer practice or haul a 4x8 foot sheet of plywood? Or the tent/inflatable mattress package that, along with a built-in air compressor, allowed the Aztek to double as a camper!!

Or how about the retro styled hot hatch the PT Cruiser with it's sporty GT 2.4L Turbo trim!!

I ♥ the subjective
(messing with ya bro !!)

Yeah that worked for the Acura ZDX, Honda Crosstour, Infinit EX, FX, Pontiac Aztek and most ridiculously ugly AND useless SUV thingies.

Well they are positioning these vehicles to the Munster family b/c they are horrible and I think we should sue for "pain and suffering" every time someone with good taste has to see one of these things.

A long time ago, "bespoke" meant custom-made for the client. Here it just means a unique interior to set it apart from the rest of the Audi models, including the regular Q5.
