GM struggles to retain customers from defunct GM brands

I think the loyalty problem has less to do with the remaining brands and models, and more to do with the perception of the dealers. I know a number of Pontiac and Saturn owners who hate their local Chevy dealers and won't do business with them. Same thing with Mercury owners and their local Ford dealer.

As for products, Ford needs to upgrade their Fusion and Escape, as these are the matching products a lot of female Mercury owners have. The rest of the car and SUV line has been nicely upgraded to provide more value than the former Mercury offerings.

The only cars I hear Pontiac and Saturn owners talking about are the Buick Regal and LaCrosse. There's also a fair amount of interest in the Equinox / Terrain.
