Dealer-added Chrome Wheels

Dealer-added Chrome Wheels
Visiting my local Lexus dealer I saw some black chrome wheels on a new RX.
The black chrome looked really nice, but I was wondering how dealers get their wheels chromed. The $1,800 or so price for them was handwritten next to the window sticker, so I'm guessing they weren't from the factory.
Do dealers chrome wheels themselves? Anyone know of the durability of a black chrome wheel?

Dealers usually have a 300% mark-up on rims. This is big money for them. Don't waste your money there. Go to a local tire and wheel shop and they can usually get them in for a fraction of the price. Those stores are likely the same place the dealer gets theirs from too.

IN AZ there is a shop called wheel specialists and they do chroming for all of the dealerships in town. They also have a trade in program for oem wheels for customers who would like to trade up and just pay the difference. It really pays to seek these places out. Find out who they work with and go there yourself. You will probably save 30-50%

Good advice. Last time I priced out stock chrome rims (trading in), the price was around $500.
