Ferrari enters Indian market as of today

You'd have to believe me on this, there are a large amount of people in India for whom a Ferrari is pocket change. The lifestyles of the upper style there is ridiculous sometimes. The way they blow money on "Western" things is just out of this world. A4, 3 Series, and C Classes are everywhere there. Even the Camry is widely popular in India. Remember that these cars cost 2x what they cost in the US.
My X5 here was like ~$65k. In India, a diesel X5 starts at ~53 lakhs, which is equal to about $106,000. And BMW/Merc/Audi sell every single car that they bring into the country. I made sure to visit every high-end dealer I could and most cars have a long waiting list with cars going for above sticker.

sadly, in perspective, its not that far off the truth. Those "third world" countries are definately on the up and coming.
i know its an extreme example, but isnt the most expensive home in the world owned by an Indian fellow in Mumbai.

They are not called third world countries . You'll offend a lot of people by saying that. They are a emerging economy.

Im Indian ... and believe me when I tell you, there are people there so rich they don't even know what to do with their money ...
Like others said, the problem is the HUGE gap between the rich - middle class - poor. And I mean HUGE! .
Also... mostly the poor areas get all the media attention ... nobody talks about the nice affluent parts of India..

My mistake, i meant previously assumed third world countries. I didnt mean it directly when i quoted it. I mentioned it to show what some people still see it as.

Same thing happened in Mexico. There is no real middle class there, you are either upper or lower and sure enough, OFFICIALLY Ferrari recently opened their dealer there as opposed to the secondary importers that used to be there.

Ouch! A Ferrari California going to cost them C$490603.88? Anyways got to love the BRIC nations India has over 50 billionaires and over 100,000 millionaires. True it is a far cry what the US has, but give them a few decades. The world is just a different place then it was 25 years ago. I can't wait to see what the world will be like in 2050 or even 2100 if I am still alive. True I would be 125, but anything possible.
The US is still Ferrari top market, selling about 30% of the cars there.

and thats not the way it works in country like india, or many other countries around the world.
heck if Porsches started at 48k in my country, you would see streets filled with them... 48k is where base 3 series start at (if you get good discount).

Its easily understandable that some Indians will be able to afford these cars there as there are a lot of people with money (although the majority of the population won't be able to), but the main problem is the poor infrastructure and few roads that you will actually be able to take your Ferrari on...let alone any exotic vehicle...
