Ford lot gets raped by thieves

Exact same thing happened in San Antonio about 6-7 years ago, just not on a dealer lot, with the Dodge Ram trucks with 20" wheels... With those, they were hitting neighborhood after neighborhood over a two week span... don't know if they ever got caught, but they definitely got a lot of wheels and tires...
Wonder if they stole the spare tires on the Fords too, as they did on the Dodges...

You can "upgrade" to 20" You don't get to keep the 18"... that means that a 20" lists for almost $200 a wheel MORE than the 18" as there is hardly any price difference between 18 and 20" truck tires... You can buy 20" aftermarket wheels for less than $200 a wheel...
its just how it is...

Like the dealer said - let's hope they get caught and sent to jail. This certainly wasn't kids just out doing dumb crap.

Dealers are cheapskates, most dealers don't even have video surveillance because they don't want to spend the money on it (and its not that expensive).
I have no sympathy for dealers that get robed in such a manner when all they needed was a good fence and video surveillance to thwart this kind of crime.

I know this, but they're quoting retail, not the cost to the dealer, and I still think that's high.
Well aware that when you upgrade you don't get the originals, but if you factor in the idea that for $800 you the wheels and tires upgraded, that's not much. If it were $800 just for the wheels and more for the tires, I'd be more inclined to believe the numbers since they do get a bit more for 20" than 18", but either way, it's done now.

No offense man, but if you really think about what you are saying, you are kinda contradicting yourself...
You say that factory wheels shouldn't cost $2400 for a set of 18's, but that its a cheap upgrade to go to 20's for just $800 more???
I can buy a set of aftermarket 20's for less than $550...
Just a heads up, the 275/65-18 that they put on the F150's (BFG Rugged Trail) are $206 a piece retail, whereas the 275/55-20 option (Pirelli ATR) is $195 a piece retail...
