Series 17 of Top Gear is nearly upon us, the first episode scheduled to air on the BBC in just eleven days. So what can we expect from the latest series?

Well, the usual mix of epic road trips, comic shenanigans and celebrity cameos are in order. And there's really only one way to find out what those will entail. But in advance of the season's BBC debut, Top Gear has released the following advertising clip to get our juices flowing.

In the video after the jump, you'll see Jeremy Clarkson taking the McLaren MP4-12C around the track, James May riding shotgun in the Mini WRC car racing through the night against a luge, Richard Hammond trying to skipper a Dartz Prombron through city streets, Jezza and Hamster driving a used Porsche Boxster through the countryside, and Jeremy chauffeuring Bernie Ecclestone around Monte Carlo in a Citroën DS3 Racing, with the Abarth 500C and Renault Clio RS in tow.

I am very excited. Whats random is that I did a search for season 16 on youtube and there was at least one show that I have never seen on the BBC. I set my DVR to record all of the shows ( even the repeats) and I have never seen it. It must not have been shown on TV . It was the episode where they compare the GT3RS, SLS, and 458. Thats a really special one imho for them to leave off the TV

The GT3RS/SLS/458 was not officially a part of Season 16.

It was a 'tweener between Seasons 15 and 16. No road tests, just news and guest and the road trip through the East Coast.

It was followed by the Three Wise Men Holiday Special.

and @2002GG, this season will run the same length as Season 16. The funding allows for either shorter bi-annual seasons, or a longer single season. Top Gear opted for a shorter run twice a year.

Did anyone else yawn their way through this first episode?

I'm a HUGE fan of the show (got the wife into it too) but, I thought this first episode of the season was pretty ho-hum.

If you dint catch the season premier go to streetfire.net. But the episode was okay. The Marauder was beast. Hopefully the second episode will be more interesting.

I thought it was unfair that they kept comparing the Marauder to the H3. The H3 is a toy; it's a Hummer wannabe.

No question that the Marauder is a monster. But they should have compared it to an H1...which is/was a military vehicle converted for civillian sale.

Well still it would be unfair, they really should have compared the Marauder to a Oshkosh M-ATV.

They were running an episode of season 16 that I have never seen last week. It was the one comparing the 458 to the SLS and the GT3RS. Probably one of the better episodes I have seen
