I agree. ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
The current smoother, egg shape looks much better, imo.
I still don't get the whole center console idea.
I actually drove mine the other day for a brief time...and as per usual...had no idea how fast I was going or where to look....lol. ![Stick Out Tongue](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Granted, it is very rare that I actually drive it....but every time I get in it I am confused...hahaha.

I have no problem with centre-gauges though. It's probably cheaper for the automakers (esp. when creating Left hand drive and Right hand drive components) and is symmetrical.
Unfortunately, not many people like center gauges so I guess that's why it was not pursued for the upcoming model......

Not sure if I'm a fan of the exterior. It looks more awkward than the current model IMO. Interior looks pretty good for its class though. I hope this is a Japan-only model, as that model would not work that well in Europe (or in the US) personally.

They are two completely different vehicles. They don't even share engines. The Scion xD has the Corolla power plant and doesn't achieve the stellar MPG figures the Yaris gets. Although it isn't far behind.
The xD rides higher, is night and day in the styling department, and offers numerous features not found in the Yaris. And they are all standard while the Yaris is available bare bones.
The xD is a nice niche offering between Yaris and Matrix. Certainly not a wasted offering even as sales have slowed. I praise Toyota for offering as many small cars as they do and significantly distinguishing them, not mearly re-badging.

The Yaris only gets the 1.5, 106hp unit here. Which is a great balanced engine mid range of what is offered elsewhere.
I await what the next new one will have. I expect a small bump in power as well as efficiency. Maybe 110-115hp and I hope they do something to compete with the Fiesta's 30/40 rating. They'll need a high geared transmission to do it.

Of course, here in the US (as always) we get limited engine choices while Europe get's a whole array of choices.

I wonder if they might use 1.6l ZR Engine, probably without Valvematic for US market, and 124hp. and Europe might get 1.8l TS with 147hp.

The current Yaris is pretty much the same worldwide outside of trim and engine differences. Same lights and everything.
