I'm surprised a Lamborghini would even waste it's time on an M5. Rich people can't buy driving skills.

Doesn't say anywhere that an actual race happened. Looks like the Lambo was a new owner (a not smart one) and may have tailgated the M through traffic, which stopped suddenly. The Lambo's plates (according to the thread) means the car was less than 3 months old to the new owner.

This reminds me of the guy who saved his money for years to buy his dream car....A ferarri(I don't remember which model), and within a minute of leaving the lot, proceeded to do something stupid............and totalled the car. I'm sure he hadn't gotten insurance on it yet....

all insurance covers new cars for up to 30 days before they add the car to policy i believe

what a waste. These cars are not just dropped in your lap. The lambo owner was probably telling himself"there is no way a sedan is going to beat my Lambo"

I've always felt that exotic car owners should be required to attend HPDE instruction courses in their cars before being allowed to drive them on the streets. If you can afford the car and insurance for it some HPDE instruction shouldn't be a problem. Everybody likes to enjoy their cars and drive them the way they're meant to be driven at times but not everyone is aware of their cars' potential and the danger in pushing the car beyond their skill level.

the car has more capabilities than the driver. Unfortunately the driver is controlling the car

you don't even have to go so extreme. even on cars like m3, isf, c63, or go up a little to m5 and e63, i see plenty of drivers who have absolutely no idea how to handle their cars the right way. in that sense, i think they are just as "dangerous"
