Looks nice, I'll give it that. I never really liked the Genesis, but the R-Spec turned my head.

Is resale value that bad though? Don't they have that Hyundai Assurance program?

Lol at the resale nonsense. My benz isn't doing that well in the resale department either.

This car would be the best bang for the buck in 2 years at an auction with about 40k miles. As a brand new car i wouldn't finance it or lease it ( unless lease is somewhere $400-$480). 100k 10 year warranty really gives you a peace of mind for you're money.

Agree, steetring wheel is weak. Also think the rims look toyish and cheesy. Rest of the package is still pure Genesis... a generic looking sedan that has no new or original lines. Not a bad car, but not one I'd sit behind the wheel of.

Don't let Hyundai's trade-in Assurance Program fool you. All it is doing is guaranteeing a certain dollar number at trade in, no matter how pitiful the amount is. (it will be pitiful)
Also, the fine print says that your local Hyundai dealer can adjust this amount for any reason. According to their website a $36,000 Hyundai Genesis will retain 41% of its purchase price after 4 years. (That's their guarantee) That give's you what, almost 15k at trade. That's just laughable! That is a literal slap in the face. If you traded it in for a different manufacturer you'd be certain to get way more.

and I believe I read a mmarshall post that the car has to be exclusively serviced by Hyundai.

Now wait until you read the fine print on the warranty as well.

If you're signing on the dotted line for a Genesis, stick with the base model and use some of the cash you saved to pick up a set of the Bridgestone rubber available on the big R for a little more grip. You'll be happier in the long run.
maybe that's hyundai's strategy. lets face it, all makers are selling hardly any v8 'sport' sedans these days. they just bolster the brand's image, and are there for those who 'must have' a v8, so if this r-spec helps sell more v6 genesis, i don't think hyundai will complain!

o'rly? each luxury can i've owned has dropped 4-5k a year in value, even with low miles, so 4 yrs from 36-15k is just over 5k drop a year, that's to the dealer. of course you can do better with private or other trade, so it's reall no slap in the face

4 year old IS250's are selling for well over 30k with low mileage. Heck, 4 year old Honda Accord V6's are selling for over 20k. So yes, a guaranteed 15k for a 4 year old Genesis is laughable.
The reality is, Hyundai is going to give you $14,760 for your 4 year old Genesis and turn around and put you into another Hyundai at further profit. This is not a win/win situation for the consumer.
My point is, the Hyundai Assurance Program is not all it's cracked up to be.

This thing is pretty impressive. Hyundai has come a long way in the past few years. I actually like their cars now.

this is actually pretty cool - you see that customer cares A LOT about the price.

so you have half of the people here saying it is great, even though review says it is better to save money and get based V6
