458 continues to shine, seems like overall they are getting tons of traction.

How exactly did Tiff and Jason have both cars at the same time on a closed track and NOT do a straight up drag race?
WTF?!?
Lap times are great but they can be subjective especially after you have cut down half the grass in England with the McLaren...
With how badly they described the McLarens driving characteristics you would have thought it was going to be 3 seconds slower, even though it ended up only off by 1 tenth of a second.
I wonder if J Clarkson is in FL trying to set up some type of race pitting the McLaren against the final launch of the space shuttle! lol
Ferrari has set the bar pretty high....

lol because drag race in cars like these is quite stupid and pointless?
i definitely think there are a lot of subjective comments to their feelings on both cars, but i think that's actually very important. after all, 99% of people buying these cars, they are not going to be racing at all anyway. so the connection with the cars are far more important. the mclaren can be very great in performance, but if it takes a lot of learning, it might be less fun. it's kind of like looking at the lexus gs and bmw 5. they probably both handle the same, but the 5 might give you more confidence.
the 458 is definitely something

Fifth Gear's Tiff Needell and Jason Plato (lucky bums!) had a go at both the McLaren MP4-12C and Ferrari 458 Italia, testing each car for thrills and for precision. While both may seem to be winners in the pantheon of automotive excellence, one one can come off victorious.
Both drivers render the same verdict, and it's the kind of final assessment you don't often get from motoring shows: one wins on paper, then gets trounced once they discard the spec sheet and grab the wheel.
Powerslides, tire smoke and some unintentional off-roading can be found in the video after the jump. Enjoy!

The look on their faces when they drove the 458 looked a lot like Jeremy clarksons when he drove. Its an amazing machine. In defense of the McLaren Chris Harris from EVO magazine (who has driven pretty much every sports car out there) said he thought the Mclaren was the best car he has ever driven. From the video it looks like the McLaren was designed to clip apexes and blast out of corners rather than drifting it with massive oversteer.
