Do you tip for an auto detail at Dealership?
I am having a full detail of my Lexus done at a dealership. Should I provide them with a tip when I pick up the vehicle?

no because I would never have my car detailed at a dealership. lemme guess...re-used water, re-used towels dragging **** from the car "washed" before you, teenage porter driving your car like it's a parking lot race, overly shiny armor all, tire shine on the tread of the tire...yeah, no thanks.
I do tip people I trust to do a good detail job though.

Dealerships do suck at washing cars and detailing them. Bought my black IS350 in for warranty stuff and I washed it the previous day not knowing dealers offer free washes. My car actually came out more dirty than when I bought it in. Back to the tipping, if you like the job they did, then yeah tip them. I tipped my mechanic when he did warranty work and another time when I bought my car in to disable my DRLs.

When I lived in an apartment and had few convenient wash options, I would use the Lexus car wash regularly, especially in the winter. It's free, but I would always tip 10 bucks to one of the guys. Eventually, they got to know the car and would cut me to the front of the line and do a reasonably good job.
My general tipping advice is to tip well if you expect to use the service regularly, whether it be detailing, eating out, or a local bar. If you won't be using the detail service again, I'd probably just throw them 5 bucks so they can get a sandwich and call it a day.

Good luck with your detail. Hopefully your dealership has hired a former professional detailer that knows what he's doing. Generally, getting a detail from a dealership isn't the best route to go as few are trained properly.
