Here's a quote from a recent article in the Vancouver Sun newspaper:
I don't know if this is really true, or not. A couple of weeks ago, during a weekly 40-minute commute in Burnaby and Vancouver on Sunday afternoon, I tallied the "luxury brand" autos I encountered:
I drive a 2010 RX 350, so I tallied RXs separately from other Lexus models.
Subjectively, the Audi tally is a statistical sampling anomaly, in my opinion. Audis are right up there with Acuras, etc., around here - they must have all been hiding that particular Sunday afternoon.
I did NOT include Mini in the BMW tally. I did NOT include smart or Sprinter [van] in the Mercedes tally, but I DID include Mercedes B-class.
Besides the relative proportions among the brands, perhaps the absolute numbers encountered in the 40 minute drive are worthy of mention? Does this number of "luxury brand" autos seem high, or low?
Why Vancouver? Apparently, this area regularly records the highest per capita spend in North America on luxury and supercars.
Code:
Acura 29 Audi 5 BMW 49 Cadillac 6 Infiniti 11 Jaguar 3 Land/Range Rover 7 Lexus - not RX 14 Lexus - RX 19 Lincoln 5 Mercedes 54 Porsche 5
