so since the SAI is just like the HS, then this should get 40 mpg at 206 horses. Thats pretty good and rivals the Sonata.

Trunk space in the old Camry is about 300 liters so the new one is 15.5 cu ft of space. That is quite amazing since the normal old camry has only 15

i think it will get 38 MPG combined (Sonata has 37 MPG)... but dont mind the hp ratings, TCH should be 7.x 0-60 car, while Sonata is 9.2s 0-60.

Not to mention tiny trunk in every hybrid thats not Prius.

Hyundai has so many issues with their Hybrid... 4 recalls so far in 3 months on the market. And few more TSB's as well.

I was seriously considering Kia Optima Hybrid if it comes to Europe, but after so many issues they got in first few months, i dont want to wait to see long term reliability of their battery pack.

Thanks for the link to the new pics and info. The Modellista edition looks quite good to me.

Do you have any comments regarding the 440-1120L cargo space reported in the Taiwanese site I quoted earlier though? It looks like Toyota have really carved a new dimension out of nowhere to accomodate the batteries. Where could that place be? The mind boggles.

TCH?

too many TLAs (three letter acronyms)

SAI isn't a TLA and should really be spelled Sai, and is HS250h's JDM Toyota twin. TCH = Toyota Camry Hybrid.

SAI = Toyota Sai, the equivalent model to the Lexus HS (an HS with a different grill and Toyota badge)
TCH = Toyota Camry Hybrid

Sai, or Sigh, is about right for a car similar to HS.

Sai probably makes a lot more sense than HS, with a lot better price too. It sells quite well in Japan.

The Elantra is a huge sales hit no doubt. I'm not sure if Toyota has higher incentives now than Hyundai, that was the case a few months ago though. But in July Toyota's fleet sales accounted for 2% of the monthly sales while for Hyundai I think it was 10%.

I wonder why the HS sells just as well in Japan, seeing as how it is a Sai duplicate. However, the Sai interior is a lot uglier (if that's possible)

i would guess that japanese people have different taste in vehicles :-)

This is why original Lexus lineup didnt sell well in Japan, it was custom tailored for US market only.

They should have styled the new Camry like this. Then it would have looked new as opposed to 10 years old.
