The 2012 Camry headlights also equally have a lot of inspiration from the gen 6 and gen 4 Camry headlights.

Scans are small here but still can see clearly enough.

Seems to me this is exactly what it needs to be to not alienate the millions (yes, millions) of people this car needs to cater to.
Which BTW, we are not included in. Of course we want more for it -- we're each and every one of us enthusiasts and always want more exciting and faster and better.
Camry buyers do NOT have the same set of desires that we do. They just want a car they can count on that's not hideous. That's IT.
This car is exactly what it needs to be. Toyota knows this better than any of us here.
I don't understand all the complaining. If the interior and driving dynamics meet expectations, I don't know how anyone can be upset.
The outgoing model is still a great looking car and this improves on that design with a fresh take. Perfect move.
It's too vanilla for you? Of course it is. That was done completely on purpose. It's what the people want and that's how Toyota sells literally millions of copies.
There's NO WAY Toyota would add edgy styling to a Camry. That's not what this car is for. There are other cars for you if that's what you want. Cars that don't aim for (or could ever reach) millions in sales.

Exactly. I agree with everything you've said and that exactly why I'm glad there are other car makers who have edgier, more stylish sedans in the same class and price range for the family sedan buyer who doesn't want vanilla.

Yes. Those were the sentiments when the Forte was first introduced. People were saying that it looked like -- depending upon the angle -- both the Corolla AND the Civic.
