I have an '06 GS430 that has Sirius radio. About 3 weeks ago I noticed that my reception was very bad. I called Sirius and they pinged my receiver, however, the reception problem has persisted. I was driving in the desert over the weekend (not a structure or cloud near) and still was not able to maintain a signal.
My antenna is not the dolphin fin on the rear off the roof near the rear window. It is a triangle plastic piece inside the windshield near the rvm. My guess it was a kit the dealer put on.
Does anyone know if I can replace the antenna? I would like to have the dolphin type. Is that easy to replace/install?

First thing I would try would be a new antenna. A magnetic-mount Sat radio antenna is cheap and easy to install (at least temporarily, to see if that fixes the problem).
However, if we're talking about a dealer-installed Sat radio system the question becomes...where's the receiver?
The antenna connectors are pretty-much standard so, a new antenna should plug right in...assuming you can find the receiver to plug it in to.

I have the same unit you have and reception is always pretty spotty. I go through several brief deadzones on the way to work and I just deal with it. One of the vendors does sell an adapter to allow you to use the sharkfin antenna (it's an XM antenna) if you have one already.

I've been dealing with the same problem here recently regarding reception on my 05 LS. When i first got the car in 09, it was not a problem. But recently the reception has been spotty just like the OP's. My antenna is located on the trunk lid near the back window. I'm wondering if moving it to the top of the car would make a difference. Say near the nav antenna???

The newer aftermarket Sirius receivers don't have as great as reception as they used to due to the FCC making them lower the signal strength because it was occasionally interfering with other sources. They have signal boosters but they are kind of pricey. My old cheap $19 dial receiver I got in 06 gets better reception then the brand new models costing over $100 without the signal boosters. You may want to look into a signal booster.
