Between those two, S5. In my area, it seems like I see at least a couple M3's every time I go out. An S5 is much rarer, and IMO much nicer looking. Either way though, you can't really go wrong. Both are fantastic cars.

M3, simply I think this car is more reliable than the Audi. But if you plan to change car every few years then ignore this factor.

I was thinking the same thing. OP seems like he changes cars every few years and thus the only reason to get the S5.. For longevity purposes and driving the car on rails... M3 FTW..

I've looked at the CTS-V.. but there is something about it that I just don't really like. Sure it's fast and packs a lot of HP, but the outside design/style of it just doesn't catch my attention as much as the S5 or M3 does.

S5 will be refreshed for the 2013 Model Year with the Supercharged V6 and other exterior/interior updates.

I'm a s**ker for AWD, so for me it would be a no-brainer.....an S5 with Quattro (and not to mention the A5/S5's gorgeous looks, of course). But you may or may not need AWD for rain or snow, depending where in CA you live.

The S5 sounds boring. A M3 with deleted resonators will sound beast.

but the e90/e92 M3 will be the last generation of using BMW's legendary high raving natural aspire V8s. the next gen M3 will be twin turbo i6. i will get the M3 hands down, S5 doesn't even come close, even appearance is debatable between the two.

Thats not stock. Stock vs Stock a M3 sounds better with modified exhaust M3 sounds better lol. I guess everybody has their different opinions.

lol but that white S5 is a thing of beauty sitting still and won't get you any tickets.

Audi > M3 for looks.

I'll shake your hand and acknowledge you getting to the finish line faster, but that's only after I pull up, park, smooth down the cream linen pants and open the door for the lady who matches the car in looks.


Lights remind me of a Kia Sorrento. Don't know why they changed it to that extreme.

I like the S5, better looking (IMO) and a lot more laid back. OP said that he didnt really get to utilize the power of his IS-F in LA traffic, what would be the difference in an M3? Go S5 and goodluck with whatever you get
