I agree with one of many BNR's suggestion: get a 996 and get the bug outta your system Henry. Once you've got a taste of it, you'll be ever more prepared to face the little thing that's called mid-life crisis in your not so far future. And when that time come, you'll be able to downgrade to a corolla with no shame or regret
Live below our means. I love that
Been practicing it too: from "paying myself first" (saving the entire check from my second job) to not buying new clothes, jeans, and recycling/ claiming those CRVs.

In So Cal, AWD is useful in hardcore sports car.....STi, EVO, GTR, Twin Turbo S4, 911 Turbo.....etc. Not a stock VW R32, that thing is gutless unless is twin turbos.
It is pointless in cars like IS350, GS350, LS460, Infiniti G, M........those cars can barely spin their 2 rear tires.
I guess cars like chipped 335i and twin turbos 550i start to need AWD, I say any cars that are boosted with more then 350 lb-ft of torque that come on at less then 3.5k rpm start to need AWD. Cars like boosted AMG 55, 63, 65, F10 M5, RS4, RS6, RR Ghost, Mulsanne needs AWD.
Even my SC430 don't need AWD at all, it only got 320 lb-ft @ 3400 rpm, my tires are flat bald now and it can only spins them for 2 seconds. When I put some new wider tires on it, I expect zero tire spins at WOT.

Miles is a little over the 12k that you mentioned. Looks pretty nice though.
Check this out:
Certified 2008 BMW 750i, $37,994 with 33,699 miles (11,233 a year). Black on Black. Looks pretty damn nice.

There is also this:

2006 BMW M5 for $33,999 with 59k miles.
I'll see what else I can find...

Never say never, STIG. I've owned some cars in my lifetime (and I've been driving for well over 40 years) that I never thought I would have.
I agree, though, that as a daily-driver for Henry (rominl) and his family, there are better choices.
