2013 Toyota Avalon revealed (pics pg.14)

While I agree that it is attractive and a huge advance in style compared to the last one there are some derivative elements at work here. Impressive nonetheless but let's not get carried away.

Looks real good! Made me forget all about the ES. However I think they could have done better with the lower grill which to me screams Veloster Turbo grill (or maybe Ford Focus grill). Like the interior with the touch senstive buttons and a wireless induction charging pad for cellphones and etc. Thats really cool!
It looks much longer and bigger, but specs say its actually smaller and over a 100lbs lighter.
I wonder what is different (if anything is different) that they decided to wait to reveal engine specs.

The car rides on 111-inch wheelbase with V6 power and excellent mileage. We will tell you more about powertrain advancements later this spring.

Yes, indeed they are not saying a word about the powertrain yet. I wonder if (finally) we will see Toyota's next-gen powertrains debut. A next-gen V6 maybe? We know there is going to be an Avalon hybrid as well.

Great job by Toyota! Although, I must say I'm glad that this does not look better than the ES (to me). I was actually worried that the Avalon would look better than the ES, but I'm glad that it wasn't the case (as it should be!) Regardless, this is a really, really nice improvement over the old one. The sleek exterior and interior really does justice as Toyota's flagship. There are some aspects to the interior that I actually prefer in the Avalon over the ES (like the instrument panel).
The competition? Old crinkled newspaper...

So the Calty design department designed this and the LF-LC concept? Yea, they need to keep designing all future Toyota/Lexus models.
