Avalon has more leather than new ES :-).
Look at stiched leather on doors, even around cup holders, and hand stiched dash.

Azera interior looks like someone blew up Elentra interior. There is almost leather and wood, looks pretty plain when compared to Avalon.

front looks quite good actually unless you watch it from the ant-angle like those other pics :-).

there is more wood, leather and chrome in Avalon interior than in many German luxury sedans :-).

or chrome rings? :-)

you know how Avalon interior looks like? Like Toyota-outside-Japan dream interior.
You can see Akido giving more responsibility to outside-japan teams right here with this car.

While I was at Toyota, we knew very well what were common customer complaints (hard plastics interior for instance, lack of certain specific features found on other cars, etc), and Japanese engineers would shot these suggestions down as not necessary. Then TME (Europe) started keeping track of these things and i bet they had liason that talked to engineer to improve things like "FM radio reception", "high pressure nozzles for windshield washers", etc, etc... and every new generation would fix some of these, and with Avalon, it looks like non-Japanese designed the car.

Reason I drive Lexus is because Lexus never had such problems.

interesting the avalon has the hood come right down to the grill, while the es has had some grumbling about the 'strip' of metal below the hood line that goes across.

Avalon looks like class higher car than Azera, like IS and GS.
we agree - as i said, i think azera and avalon will appeal to different consumers.

New Avalon rocks!! Huge improvement over the last Gen! Now it's very difficult to choose from the ES and the Avalon!

Now all other manufacturers are going to have a hard time to catch up.

Looks improved overall, but I'm let down by the gaping, fish mouth front grille. In fact, it's just plain unattractive, as it is on the Sonata Hybrid. That would be a deal breaker for me.

For someone looking to upgrade from a Camry, Toyota is making it very hard to decide. Should one get an ES350 or an Avalon? Just like the ES, this Avalon is a beauty. I wouldn't be surprised if it priced similar to the ES.

The press release calls them "square Double-eye PES (Projector Ellipsoid System) headlamps" with HID. I wonder how the light output compares to conventional single bulb projectors.
