Yes it must be a totally different motor, similar design from the same family of N54 and N55, but it must be much stronger with probably higher displacement, maybe 3.2L~3.4L. I am sure the N54 was never designed to put out anywhere close to 400 hp.

Just like the Nissan GTR motor, the VR38 in the GTR is very similar to the much weaker NA VQ37 from the Z and G37, but they have nothing in common, the VR motor is much stronger with a slightly higher displacement.

Autoblog posted the same thing I said right after I posted my comments above, man I really should look into getting a job in this field.

Nope....because it would still be a V6 not Inline 6....and if you say "oh big deal?"....reference back to Toyota's greatest engine, the 2JZGTE! I know u might not think its a big deal, but Inline engines are incredibly smooth revving and have a great design in regards to intake/exhaust dynamics....now, add two turbos....HEAVEN!

You forgot to mention Inline 6 sounds 10X cooler then V6

I think they both sound pretty whimpy.

I also prefer in line 6 over the V6 but V6 can be much more compact, and have better weight distribution.

True, no 6 cylinders can sounds as mean as any 8/10/12 cylinders. I was just comparing Inline-6 to V6

True, that's why they created the V configuration for better packaging. But I care more about sounds and feels more then performance
